2018 Cabernet Sauvignon, Spring Mtn. District

2018 Cabernet Sauvignon, Spring Mtn. District

Napa Valley

Sourced from 50-year-old family-owned vineyards on the eastern slopes of Spring Mountain, this 2018 vintage Cabernet Sauvignon has a refined elegance. Opening with an abundance of blackberry jam, candied violets, crushed earth, and currants, this youthful Cabernet suggests unquestionable aging potential but is delicious now. The mouthfeel is pure satin, laced with mocha and plum. Tannins are firm but exist mainly on the back palate, framed by subtle spice. This wine is a quintessential California mountain cabernet, reflecting the artistry and tradition of old-world winemaking.

The refined complexity of this versatile wine makes it a delicious match for the main course of any special meal. The delightful acidity in this cab cuts through fattier dishes and cheeses. Vegetables with strong herbs like rosemary or mint are also a great pairing.

“A gorgeous, layered nose of classic varietal blackberry and cassis aromas plus chocolate and faint dried herbs entices, and the palate delivers on that promise.  The generous texture carries the flavors on the midpalate, and supple tannins keep the flavor pumping through an extended finish.  A new player to me, and one worth watching.  Bravo!  A Platinum Award winner at the 2021 Critics Challenge International Wine & Spirits Competition.”

"Crushed raspberries, ripe cherries, blackberries, dried thyme, lavender, and spice box on the nose. Medium-bodied with plush tannins. Round, creamy, and polished with pretty vanilla notes on the finish. Drink from 2023." James Suckling
