2021 Cabernet Sauvignon, Howell Mountain
First planted in the 1800’s, the Howell Mountain AVA sits on the east side of the Napa Valley and begins above the fogline at 1400 feet above sea level. The volcanic soils and long warm days with little to no marine influence create conditions that provide world-class Cabernet Sauvignon fruit.
TASTING NOTES
Aromas of ripe blackberry bramble, toasty oak, dark cherry and notes of vanilla fill the glass. Pronounced acidity on the palate adds to the balanced mouthfeel of the wine. Flavors of sweet black cherry, blueberry, boysenberry, and mineral notes are prominent. The lengthy finish is lush and smooth. Drink now thorugh 2040.
SUGGESTED FOOD PAIRING
The concentrated richness and notable acidity make this wine a remarkable partner with food. We recommend complementary recipes like steak au poivre, grilled portobello mushrooms or rack of lamb with herbs. This wine will easily hold up to strong cheeses such as aged Gorgonzola, aged sharp cheddar or aged Parmiagiano Reggiano.
