2024 Botanica Consecrata Pinot Gris – Orange Wine

2024 Botanica Consecrata Pinot Gris – Orange Wine

Nelson Vineyard, Mendocino County

TASTING NOTES

Our 2024 Botanica Consecrata Orange Wine is made from Pinot Gris fruit from the Nelson Ranch in Mendocino County.  Despite its name, orange wine is not made from oranges.  Rather, the stunning color is created by allowing white grapes to macerate longer and resisting the use of preservatives.  This allows natural yeasts & flora to exist in the wine.  Careful avoidance of spoilage organisms is imperative.  This wonderfully interesting wine is full of aromatics including rhubarb, strawberry, apricot and notes of orange zest.  On the palate it shows flavors of tart cherry, strawberry, cranberry and hints of pomegranate & cranberry.

SUGGESTED FOOD PAIRING

This wine will pair nicely with dishes featuring fresh pesto, fresh pasta with butter or cream sauces, Oysters Rockefeller or vegetarian dishes like palak paneer.   Try it with a variety of cheeses and charcuterie to expose the layered flavors in the wine.
